Tradition of Fireworks

 

Diwali is a festival of lights. Diwali is a word of Sanskrit language which means array of lights. The lights can be of any kind. We can use lights of Divas, candles and electric bulbs etc. As Diwali is celebrated on new moon (Amavasya) of Kartik month according to Hindu calendar. It's said to be the darkest night of year. Therefore lights have strong significance on Diwali. In this tradition of light, fire work adds beauty to the scenario. The tradition of fire work on Diwali is not so old and not so new. Fire work has also been developed with the time. In older days people use only sparkles for fire work. But the fire work used to be astonishing and marvelous even in that time. The cracker manufacturers were very expert in this job. The sparkles used to be of several colors. In these days, the charm of fire work has developed to a great extent. On Diwali various kinds of crackers are been sold in the market. The sparklers are the most fascinating. People love "Rockets" which is a cracker embedded on a stick of broom. On igniting it rushes into the sky with a flame at its tail. After reaching the sky it bursts into many sparkles. On the night this cracker rules the sky and the sky appears to be filled with the stars produced by it.

 

Another kind of cracker people love to fire is Sky Shot which throws several star like sparkles of various colors in the air. Some sky shot are so fascinating; they shot the sparkles in the sky for several minutes. Children love this very much. Children love the colors of this very much.There are crackers especially made for children. These are "Anars (fountain), Pencil, Fuljhari". Fountain is especially loved by children. It bursts out colorful sparkles all around in the manner water fountain sprinkles water all around. Pencil is like a large stick which also emits sparkles. Fuljhari is also a sparkler which emits colorful radiance on burning. Yeah, One important cracker of children is "Charkhi" which rotates on the ground with a great speed emitting sparkles simultaneously. It rotates like a top rotates on its axis.

 

There are crackers for young kids too. They like bombs very much. As in India noise making crackers aren't banned youth and adults like to burst bombs. Their sounds vary from lower one to ear deafening. It is loved by older ones as it satisfy their thirst of adventure very much. One Famous cracker is a Lari (array of small bombs), in which large number of small bombs are tied together (around 10,000). On ignition this cracker goes on bursting small bombs continuously for several minutes.
