Five day of Festivals

 

Diwali is an auspicious festival of Hindus. It is celebrated on the month of kartik according to Hinu calender at Amavaysa night. Diwali are Deepavali is also known as ‘Festival of Lights’. This festival comes in the month of October or November. According to Hindu mythology Diwali is celebrated because on this day Loard Rama returned to Ayodhya with his brother Lakshmana and wife Sita fromthe exile of fourteen years. To their grand welcome the people of Ayodhya lit earthen lamps in their houses to show their happiness towards them.The fun –lovind Diwali festival is celebrated for five days from Dhan teyras to Kaartik Shukla Duriteeya. Diwali is celebrated not only by Hindus, but it is also celebrated by Sikhs, Jains and other community of India, Many days before Diwali people start decorating their homes and shops, preparing sweets, light up their homes and shops with fancy lights, buy new clothes and jewellery.

 

The First Day of Diwali is known as Dhanteras. It is also known by many names like Dhantrayodashi, Yamadeepdaan, or Asweyiya Bahula Thrayodashi. First we talk about Dhanteyras. On this day the women of the houses keep fast in order to please Goddess Laxmi. At evening the women of the house lit one earthen lamp on the main entrance of the house and offer water, vermilion, rice, jaggery and flowers to Yamraj. In India this festival is also known as ‘Yamadeepdaan’.This name is related to with sixteen year old son of King Hima who die but the dedication of his young wife made Yamraj, the god of death to give his life back.

 

The Seond Day of Diwali is known as Chhoti Diwali .This day is also known by many names like Narakchaturdashi, Roop Charudashi, Kali choudas, Kali Puja, or Divvela Panduga. On this day in evening people lit few number of diyas or earthen lamps on door and corners . This day is celebrated on smaller scale with ligtning few lights. The children burst few crackers on this day. ‘Narakchaturdashi’ is celebrated in all South Indian states on this day. Lord Krishna is worship on this day . Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura on this day. In north Indian states this day is also known as Roop Chaturdashi. Hindu people take bath and perform meditation to gain beauty.

 

The Third Day of Diwali is known as ‘ Laxmi Pujan. The people worship Goddess Laxmi on this day. This day is most important and significant. At evening people worship God Ganesh, Goddess Laxmi. After worship the children burst crackers and the people great their best wishes to relatives and friends with sweets and gifts. This day is also known by many names like Chopda Pujan, Deva, Divali, Sukhsuptika, Kamudi, Mahostavam, Badhausan, Balendra Puja, Karthigai Deepam. Thalai Deepavali, Sharda Pujan ,Bandi choor Diwas, Diyari.

 

The Fourth Day of Diwali is known as ‘Goverdan Puja’. According to Hindu calender this is the first day of the New Year. On this day every businessmen settled their old books of accounts and open of books of accounts. Goverdhan Puja is celebrated to worship Lord Krishna and Goverdhan Parbat which is near to Mathura. This day is known by many names like best avash,Gudi Padava, Varsh Pratipada, Annakoot, Bali Padyam and Muharat Pujan.

 

The Fifth Day of Diwali is knownas Bhaidooj or Bhatri Ditya. This festival is being celebrated by broters and sisters.It shows the purest and unvaluable bond between them . This festival is known by many names like Bhai Phota, Bhaubeej, Bhai-Tika, Yamaduitheya, Gorehabba, and Bhatru Durithiya.Besides these there are some related festivals Kartik Month such as kojagara,lach panchn and Tulsi Vivah.
