Pooja is performed four to five times during whole night of Diwali. It starts from evening during evening oil is poured in all the earthern lamps already placed in front of Pooja Chouki on the Rangoli.
First Pooja on Diwali is performed for Hanuman Bajrangbali, as all the credit to bring back Sh. Ram Chander, Luxman and Sita Maa to Ayoghya goes to Sh. Hanumanji. Thus Halwa Prasad is prepared and it is offered to the main hero of this joyfull celebration. Some perform this first Pooja at their home itself and some like to go to Hanuman Mandir to offer him mishtan. On return from mandir Luxmi Pooja is performed. Along with Luxmi, Ganesh Pooja is also performed.
First of all from the Pooja Thali Gangajal is offered in token of water to bathe. After that Kalawa and Lotus flower is offered as a token of clothes and seat. Roli and real Chandan is offered to Tilak. Then the big Deeya already available in Pooja Thali is lightened along with Dhoop and Agarbatti and Aarti of Sh.Luxmiji is chanled by all the family members. After Aarti all family members shower Kheel and rise on Luxmi and Ganesh. All the remaining lamps are lightened. First of all 5 lamps are sent to Mandir one at the road crossing. Two are kept of main door, one at kitchen, one at Tulsi, one at Water tap and remaining all lightened lamps are placed in rows at such places from where those are easily visible to all. Generally these are keep on boundary walls from there they look a very nice. Pooja is performed with these earthern lamps, in addition people use electric bulbs rows to beautify their houses.
This Pooja programme is generally performed by the newly wedded brides and girls of the family. On the other hand the elderly lady in the house puts Tilak to all the male members and Bindi to all females and girls. After that all delicious sweets placed in Pooja Thali are offered to Luxmi and Ganesha.
A small quantity of kheel and Batasha alongwith one or two pieces of sweets and fruits if sent to mandir. After that Prasad is distributed to all.
