Sri Lanka is country situateing mos souther-east pint of India. This country as its name symblize has much importance in Indian culture. It is related to the our most precious and honoured epic”The Ramayana” so Dieali has great importance for the people of Sri Lanka. The native of Sri Lanka are mainly tamil. They celebrate this festival as a festival of lights they decorate their houses with lights. Lights are liked by Goddess Laxmi, so peoplelit lamps etc to invite Goddess of wealth and prosperity. People in Sri Lanka make toys of sugar(crystal sugar called mishri) which are called khilone. These toys are used as sweets on Diwali. These do not cost much and every one can afford to buy them. The people of Sri Lanka invite friends for meal at their houses and enjoy the feast. They also enjoy fine work by burning crackers. It is more or less like in India but Diwali in Sri Lanka takes many of traditional aspects of Diwali such as games singing,dancing etc. The war of good &evil concluded in Sri Lanka. Lord Rama crushed the army and regme of Ravana . How could it remain untouched with Diwali rituals. The journey of Rama stared from Sri Lanka back to his home land on this day “Diwali” . People of Ayodhya lighted lamps allaround in Ayodhya in the hour of Lord Rama and for this win over the evils. The is why places are lighted with lamps and candles or electric lights where there is Diwali celebrated and so is the case in Sri Lanka they also celebrate it as a symbol of with of god over evil.
