Diwali in north India is celebration with great pomp and show. The preparation for celebrating Diwali starts even weeks before Diwali. People clean their house, get their houses white washed and throw the old junk out buy the new things. Every one wants their house look beautiful. Even the shopkeepers also white washed their shops and clean them. They update their stock for selling on this occasion. Few days before Diwali people stock shopping for their houses and their relatives. People buy new cloths to wear and decoration material to decorate their houses. They buy electric thing to light houses. Actually, Diwali is a day of lights. On the day of Diwali people decorate their houses with decoration material and electric bulbs etc. the whole environment is decorated like a house of wedding. The ambience is full of lights whether is done by electric bulbs or by candles and earthen lamps. People buy gifts for their relatives and sweets too. The festival is know for giving love, sweets and gifts to each other. One Diwali people give gifts and sweets and some cash money too to the sub-ordinates and workers . the festival is most awaited for these gifts and bones income. In north India it is celebrated  for two reasons. Actually on this day god rama along with her wife sita and brother laxman came bake to ayodhya after the exile of fourteen years. God rama faced many difficulties during this exile period. His got her wife kidnapped and has to fight with army of demons and devils but atlast he killed the greats devil of that th    ravana. The king of lanka. During this period he actually brought relief to heeman being by killing the devils and demons of lanka. After these sufferings and hard time of exile when came back to home, people of ayodhya become very happy. They lighted the whole ayodhya and decorate it in the honour of raja  ram and sita. The whole ayodhya looked like paradise on earth. Since then Diwali is celebrated with light and decoration in honour of god rama. People also worship goddess laxmi the goddess of  wealth on this occasion. As there is no life without wealth on earth, everyone wants to peease the goddess. People along with their family member worship the goddess with sweet, fruits and flowers etc. and asks her shower her bleasing on them and to bless them with wealth and prosperity. People fire crakers on this occasion especially childred who are great loners of this kind of fire work. People go to friends houses and give them gifts, blessings etc. every body takes happy. The earth becomes paradise on the day. Some people disgrace the day buy playing gamble and drinking alcohol. they give reason that it is auspicious to drink and gamble on this day. But the fact is they try to before people buy making such arguments.
