Diwali in Britain

Indians are in large number in Britain. In fact Indians are second largest minority community. Indians who are living in Britain celebrate most of their festival as are celebrated in India. In some parts of Britain percentage of Indian people is very high and they are living there with their own culture. Diwali reminds them their home land and Indian culture and their relatives. They celebrate Diwali in the same way as is celebrated in India. Like in India, Diwali means to them cleaning of houses, throwing out the scrape material and buying new things for good luck and prosperity. Indians living there have both social and economic impact and consider being a respectful community. On Diwali Indians buy new clothes to wear and paint the homes and buy new furniture etc. On the eve of the Diwali they decorate their homes with light and garlands. The illumination is very much same as in India on this festival. People use different types of light for decoration. The British city Leicester is famous for its Diwali festival celebrations too. People go to temple to offer their prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. Diwali is celebrated in the month of October or November throughout the world and so is in Britain. The bitter cold of these months could not lessen the sweetness of this festival. A person also lit the candle and divas around their houses and go to the open place for fire work with the permission of local authority. Only sparkles are allowed because of noise pollution but even for that you have to take permission in advance. Sharing sweets and inviting friends to home on feast is part of celebration. How sweet the Indian are, always find the way to keep them cheerful and keep them attached to their native land.
